The Department of Cybersecurity at the College of Information Technology, University of Babylon, actively participated in the Sustainability Week held at Al-Mustaqbal University College. This engagement reflects the department’s commitment to fostering innovation and encouraging students to apply their knowledge in support of sustainable development goals. The participation was closely supervised by the Head of the Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Khalafah Obeid, who emphasized the importance of nurturing student talents and providing appropriate platforms for them to express their creative ideas.
During the event, students from the department presented a series of distinguished projects aligned with global trends in educational sustainability. One of the most notable projects featured a smart device based on eye-tracking technology that enables automated student attendance registration. This innovation significantly reduces the time and effort associated with traditional attendance procedures while enhancing classroom management efficiency.
Another project redefined the concept of student assessment by introducing a system that integrates academic achievement with intellectual engagement and individual initiatives. The aim is to produce graduates who not only excel academically but also possess advanced life skills, better preparing them for the labor market.
The participating students received strong moral support from the department’s coordinator and several faculty members, in addition to the presence of many of their peers. This created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and motivation, highlighting the spirit of teamwork and collaboration within the department.
This participation stands as a true embodiment of the Department of Cybersecurity’s vision to channel student potential toward developing technological solutions that enhance the educational environment and align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It also underscores the department’s dedication to promoting a culture of research and innovation as a fundamental pillar of the academic process.
