As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance practical skills and strengthen applied aspects of the educational process, the Information Networks Department at the College of Information Technology, University of Babylon, organized a practical training lecture for students of the Networks Department. The lecture was delivered by master’s student Amir Akram Mousa, who also works at the Ministry of Housing and Construction. The session aimed to equip students with hands-on knowledge of devices used in connecting optical fiber networks to fiber cables and to familiarize them with modern equipment for ensuring optimal network performance. The lecture took place within the Networks course taught by Dr Tareq Alwan Al-Murshidi, with the attendance of teaching assistants M.M. Sundus Firas Jabbar and Engineer Mustafa Falah Kazem.
The lecture featured a detailed practical demonstration of how to install optical networking devices and prepare fiber connections, utilizing the available equipment to test signal quality and ensure the integrity of connections between components. Students were guided on troubleshooting common practical challenges, including device configuration, proper cable connections, and compliance with engineering standards. The hands-on approach allowed students to directly operate the tools and equipment, reinforcing their understanding of how theoretical concepts are applied in real-world network environments.
This training session underscores the Information Networks Department’s commitment to providing an interactive educational environment that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application, preparing students to work with advanced networking technologies and meet the evolving demands of the professional field.
