Within the objectives of the Information Networks Department at the College of Information Technology, University of Babylon, which aim to enhance scientific research and support the participation of faculty members and postgraduate students in international academic forums, Master’s student Yasmin Ali Khalil Al-Janabi from the department, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Mahdi Mohammed, participated in the Fifth International Conference entitled " The 5th International Conference on Intelligent Cybernetics Technology & Applications 2025 (ICICyTA) ".
The conference was held in the Republic of Indonesia, with participation conducted online, and the research paper was published in the official conference proceedings issued by the international publisher IEEE.
The two researchers presented their scientific paper entitled: “Improving UAV Network Performance through Particle Swarm Optimization-Based Task Allocation with Software-Defined Networking Support and Obstacle-Aware Energy Modeling.”
The study focuses on enhancing the performance of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) networks by adopting an intelligent task allocation mechanism based on the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm, supported by Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technologies, along with energy consumption modeling that takes environmental obstacles into consideration.
The research highlights key challenges related to the efficiency of aerial networks, including energy consumption, communication stability, and task management in complex environments. It proposes effective solutions that contribute to improving network performance and enhancing sustainability, in line with contemporary trends in smart networks and advanced cyber systems.
The ICICyTA conference aims to present the latest developments and innovations in intelligent cybernetics technologies and their applications, with a strong emphasis on practical solutions and the promotion of international academic collaboration among researchers and scientific institutions.
This participation underscores the Information Networks Department’s commitment to supporting high-quality scientific research and empowering its students and researchers to actively contribute to knowledge production and dissemination through reputable international platforms.
