It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Under the supervision of Dr. Sattar Badr Sadkhan Al-Maliki, Professor of Wireless Communications and Information Security at the College of Information Technology, Iraq Branch, the second international conference was held between the College of Engineering / University of Babylon Electricity with the International Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) on 10/25/2022 and 10 /26/2022. The conference aims at the importance of scientific publishing to disseminate scientific research in Scopus global containers and exchange experiences and new ideas in the fields of electrical engineering, computer, information technology, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering and architecture.
