Information Technology College Holds a Memorial Gathering for the Late Student Hussein Aqeel Al-Mousawi

In an atmosphere filled with sorrow and grief, the Software Department at the College of Information Technology held a memorial gathering in honor of its late student, Hussein Aqeel Al-Mousawi, a third-year student. The event was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Wesam Sameer Bhaya, the heads of the three academic departments, a number of academic and administrative staff members, as well as students, friends, relatives, and loved ones of the deceased.
The memorial ceremony commenced with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an delivered by Mr. Hussein Al-Tufaili.
During the gathering, the Dean of the College, Professor Wesam Sameer Bhaya, delivered a speech expressing his profound sorrow over the loss of one of the College’s students. He reflected on the late student’s admirable character and good reputation, emphasizing that his passing represents a painful loss to the university community and that his memory will remain alive in the hearts of his classmates, instructors, and all who knew him.
Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Habib Al-Azzawi then presented a faith-based and educational lecture dedicated to the soul of the deceased. The lecture explored the concept of remembrance of death in the Holy Qur’an and the lessons and reflections conveyed through its verses, encouraging contemplation of life’s realities and preparation for the Hereafter. He also reviewed aspects of the history of the Prophet’s Household (Ahl al-Bayt), highlighting the hardships and sacrifices they endured in the pursuit of truth. Particular attention was given to the tragedy of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and his son Ali Al-Akbar (peace be upon him), whose enduring examples embody the values of patience, sacrifice, steadfastness, and faith.
The memorial gathering was moderated by Mr. Yasser Saad Al-Khazraji, who also recited a moving elegiac poem commemorating the virtues and noble character of the late student. His words recalled Hussein’s kindness, sincerity, and warm smile, which remain deeply engraved in the memories of his friends and colleagues. The elegy transformed into a heartfelt expression of loyalty and remembrance, where tears, prayers, and cherished memories intertwined.
The gathering witnessed a large attendance of faculty members, students, and individuals who knew and admired the deceased, all of whom joined his family in mourning their loss.
For her part, the Head of the Software Department, Dr. Suraa Zaki Naji Al-Rashid, expressed her deep sadness and condolences over this tragic loss. She praised the late student’s dedication, commitment, and exemplary conduct, noting that the department had lost a distinguished student who left a positive and lasting impact on both his peers and instructors. She affirmed that his memory would remain cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
At the conclusion of the memorial gathering, prayers were offered to Almighty God to bestow His infinite mercy upon the late Hussein Aqeel Al-Mousawi, grant him a place in Paradise, reward him for his virtuous character and promising youth, and provide patience and solace to his family, relatives, friends, and loved ones.
May Allah envelop Hussein Aqeel Al-Mousawi in His boundless mercy, grant him eternal peace in Paradise, and comfort the hearts of all who mourn his passing. Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.
