It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

A special symposium was held on the different types of insurance presented by a delegation from the National Insurance Company under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hussein Attia Al-Khalidi, Dean of the College of Information Technology, in the presence of the Assistant Dean. Scientific and administrative affairs, heads of scientific departments, and a number of professors and college employees. The symposium covered a wide range of insurance topics, including life and health insurance and also presented group multi-benefit insurance offers.
