The Department of Information Networks Organizes a Training Course on Reference Formatting Using EndNote Duhaa Fadill Abbas The Department of Information Networks, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Information Technology, organized a training course titled "Automated Reference Formatting Using EndNote." The course was delivered by Dr. Alaa Shawqi Jaber and Ms. Sara Kazem Idris and took place from February 9 to February 11, 2025. The course introduced EndNote, a specialized software designed for managing and organizing references used in research papers, theses, and academic studies. It enables users to create a personal library that contains all cited references, making the citation process seamless and efficient. EndNote is widely adopted by academic journals and publishers and is integrated with Google Scholar, providing researchers with a powerful tool for reference management. The software is also fully compatible with Microsoft Word, allowing users to insert citations and format references automatically according to the required writing style for academic journals or institutional guidelines. Throughout the course, participants learned how to install EndNote on their computers, create a personalized reference library, manually add references, and import citations from online databases and search engines. The training also covered the integration of EndNote with Google Scholar, the process of inserting citations directly into Microsoft Word, and the customization of citation styles to meet the specific requirements of universities or scientific journals. Additionally, participants were introduced to different reference display formats, including author-date citation styles. The course witnessed active engagement from attendees, who expressed a keen interest in applying the acquired skills to their research projects. This highlights the significance of such training sessions in enhancing research quality and streamlining reference management processes in academia.
