As part of the implementation of the Third National Plan for Women, Peace, and Security, the Women’s Affairs Unit, in collaboration with the Information Networks Department at the College of Information Technology, organized an awareness workshop titled "The Importance of Literacy for Development." The session was led by Ms. Ola Ali Obeid, a faculty member of the department, under the "Prevention and Protection" pillar, specifically addressing the second provision on organizing awareness campaigns for literacy eradication.

The workshop highlighted the necessity of continuing literacy campaigns and addressing school dropout rates across various provinces to achieve social development. It also reviewed statistics from the Iraqi Ministry of Education, which operates 1,236 literacy centers nationwide and is striving to enhance this initiative, particularly in line with the Prime Minister’s directives to expand literacy education among security personnel and government employees.

Additionally, the ministry is working alongside security agencies to support reintegration programs for education, aiming to attract 150,000 beneficiaries in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Advisory Office for Education and UNICEF.

The workshop emphasized the importance of supporting families whose children drop out of school due to work or other socioeconomic factors, underscoring the need for sustained national efforts in literacy and educational development.
