It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Software Department Organizes a Workshop on Responsible Consumption and Reducing Environmental Footprint Duhaa Fadill Abbas The Software Department, in collaboration with the Sustainable Development Unit at the College of Information Technology, organized a workshop titled "Responsible Consumption: Reducing Personal Environmental Footprint". The session was presented by Lecturer Zahraa Adnan Fadel, a faculty member of the department. The workshop covered key concepts of responsible consumption and its fundamental principles, as well as an in-depth explanation of the environmental footprint and its significance in achieving sustainable development. Additionally, the session highlighted effective strategies and daily habits that contribute to minimizing unnecessary consumption and fostering a more sustainable lifestyle. The primary goal of the workshop was to raise environmental awareness among students and faculty members, encouraging them to adopt responsible behaviors that help reduce individual environmental impact. This includes conserving natural resources and minimizing waste, aligning with the college’s commitment to promoting sustainable development goals.
