It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

The Department of Information Networks Organizes a Study Course on Google Apps Script for Automating Tasks Duhaa Fadill Abbas The Department of Information Networks at the College of Information Technology, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a research-based study course titled "Google Apps Script for Automating Tasks." The course was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. George Iskandar Hussein and Asst. Prof. Dr. Alaa Shawqi Jaber . The course covered the significance of Google applications in streamlining office tasks and facilitating online collaboration through powerful tools that are part of the Google Workspace suite. Participants were introduced to various Google applications and their integration via Google Drive to create a comprehensive work environment that enhances productivity and team collaboration. The sessions explored how Google Sheets can be utilized to automatically send student results via email, significantly saving time and effort. Additionally, the course demonstrated how to integrate Google Forms, Google Sheets, and Google Slides to generate a large number of certificates, such as attendance, participation, and appreciation certificates, and distribute them via email using the Document Studio tool. The course also highlighted the advantages of these cloud-based tools, which eliminate the need for costly software installations while ensuring data security, customizable document sharing, and efficient access management. The course aimed to enhance participants knowledge of task automation using Google Apps Script, empowering them to leverage these tools across various fields to improve work efficiency and simplify daily operations.
