It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

A Student from the College of Information Technology Participates in the Ramadan Quranic Khatmah Duhaa Fadill Abbas Saad Khalid Awda, a student from the Cybersecurity Department – Evening Studies, participated in the Ramadan Quranic Khatmah organized by the Holy Abbasid Shrine’s Quran Institute – Babylon Branch, in collaboration with the Special Secretariat of the Shrine of Alawiyah Sharifa, daughter of Imam Al-Hasan Al-Mujtaba (peace be upon them). This participation reflects the strong connection to religious and cultural values, as students of the college actively engage in various events that promote Islamic identity and reinforce the principles of the Holy Quran. The College of Information Technology highly appreciates such blessed initiatives undertaken by its students and encourages continued participation in meaningful activities that contribute to shaping a well-rounded university student.
