It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Workshop at the College of Information Technology on "Irregular Migration and Its Impact on Society" Duhaa Fadil Abbas The College Website Unit, in collaboration with the academic departments of the College of Information Technology, organized a workshop titled "Irregular Migration and Its Impact on Society at Large and Individuals in Particular." The workshop was presented by Dr. Saba Mohammed Hussein, Dr. Noor Fadil Hussein, and Eng. Duhaa Fadil Abbas. The workshop addressed several aspects of irregular migration, focusing on the causes and motivations that drive individuals to take such a risky step. It also discussed the negative impacts of this phenomenon on society as a whole and on individuals in particular. Furthermore, potential solutions to confront this issue were examined through effective awareness and guidance strategies. The aim of the workshop was to raise awareness of the dangers of irregular migration and to highlight the role of technology in combating this phenomenon, particularly in light of the evolving methods of human trafficking through the internet and modern communication tools.
