It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

The College of Information Technology Organizes an Awareness Seminar on the Dangers of Ideological Extremism Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of the University of Babylon s program to combat ideological extremism and raise awareness about its risks and impact on societal peace, the College of Information Technology, in coordination with the Human Rights Division at the university, organized an awareness seminar titled "Extremism: Its Forms and Challenges in the Contemporary World." The event was held in collaboration with the Babylon Intelligence Directorate. The seminar was presented by Lecturer Hussam Kareem, who discussed the concept of extremism, its various forms, and its negative impact on individuals and society. The session emphasized the importance of raising awareness to counter radical ideologies and prevent their escalation into terrorism. This initiative is part of the university s ongoing efforts to promote a culture of moderation and tolerance, reinforcing human values that support peaceful coexistence while rejecting all forms of violence and extremism.
