It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

The College of Information Technology Holds a Workshop on Education and Training in Combating Corruption Duhaa Fadill Abbas The Software Department at the College of Information Technology organized a workshop titled "From Classrooms to Workplaces: How Education and Training Contribute to Combating Corruption?", presented by Dr. Wadhah Razouqi Biae. The workshop emphasized the crucial role of education and training as fundamental tools in promoting integrity and combating corruption. The discussion highlighted the detrimental impact of corruption on society and explored how education can instill ethical principles and transparency through specialized curricula and programs. Additionally, the workshop underscored the significance of professional training in equipping employees with the necessary skills to detect corruption and adhere to regulatory frameworks. Furthermore, the role of technology in enhancing transparency and accountability was a key focus, particularly the utilization of artificial intelligence in corruption prevention. The session concluded with a set of recommendations aimed at strengthening the role of education and training in fostering a more ethical and fair work environment.
