It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Workshop on Entrepreneurship for Students and Graduates at the College of Information Technology Duhaa Fadill Abbas The Department of Information Networks at the College of Information Technology, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a workshop titled "Entrepreneurship for Third and Fourth-Year Students and Graduates of the College’s Departments." The workshop was held under the auspices of the Entrepreneurship Initiative of the Prime Minister’s Office and supervised directly by the Head of the Information Networks Department. The workshop was delivered by Engineer Mustafa Falah Kazem, who covered essential topics in entrepreneurship, along with strategies for turning ideas into successful ventures. The session also highlighted the challenges faced by entrepreneurs and the methods to overcome them. The event saw active participation from both students and graduates, who engaged positively with the speaker through discussions and questions that significantly enriched the session. This workshop is part of a series of activities organized by the college to enhance the skills of students and graduates, supporting their professional development and increasing their opportunities in the labor market.
