It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

The College of Information Technology Organizes a Tree-Planting Campaign in Its Courtyard Duhaa Fadill Abbas The Software Department at the College of Information Technology organized a tree-planting campaign that covered the college s courtyards, in line with the directives of the Presidency of the University of Babylon, which aims to promote a sustainable environment. The campaign witnessed the participation of Dr. Suraa Zaki Naji, Head of the Software Department, along with a group of professors, staff members, and students who actively engaged in this voluntary event, reflecting a spirit of cooperation and collective participation. This initiative aims to enhance the spirit of volunteerism among students and staff, increase green spaces within the college, and contribute to efforts to combat desertification while supporting national initiatives to improve the local environment.
