It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Workshop on Technology and Enhancing Women s Efficiency in the Labor Market Duhaa Fadill Abbas The Women s Affairs Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Networking, organized a specialized workshop titled "Technology and Enhancing Women s Efficiency in the Labor Market." This initiative aimed to support and empower women to keep pace with technological advancements and enhance their professional opportunities. It is part of the third women’s action plan under the institutional reform and participation pillar, specifically paragraph eight: "Enhancing Women s Capacities in E-Government." The workshop was delivered by Dr. Saba Mohammed and Dr. Sa’a Abdul Ilah, targeting a group of female students from the college. The workshop covered key topics such as the importance of technology in improving job opportunities, the development of digital skills, and the role of innovation in boosting productivity and competitiveness for women in the labor market. The workshop saw significant interaction from the students, during which they discussed the challenges women face in the technological field. Practical strategies and solutions were presented to help improve their efficiency and strengthen their presence in modern work environments.
