As part of its ongoing efforts to promote awareness about the negative effects of digital overuse, and in line with the prevention and protection pillar of Iraq’s third national plan for women, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Information Technology organized an awareness workshop titled “The Dangers of Excessive Use of Social Media.” The event was directed toward the female students of Zahrat Al-Furat School.

The workshop was presented by Dr. Noor Fadel, Dr. Hiba Mohammed, and Assistant Lecturer Noor Razzaq, who highlighted the key psychological, social, and physical risks associated with the excessive use of social media platforms. They also discussed its impact on students’ academic performance and real-life social interactions.

The session witnessed strong engagement from the students, who received practical advice on how to maintain a healthy balance between digital usage and daily activities. The speakers also emphasized the importance of digital awareness in shaping a more conscious and tech-resilient generation.
