It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

College of Information Technology Participates in the Annual Celebration Organized by the Iraqi Academics Syndicate Duhaa Fadill Abbas A delegation from the College of Information Technology took part in the central celebration organized by the Iraqi Academics Syndicate on the occasion of Iraqi Academic Day. The event was held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, in the capital, Baghdad, with the presence of a distinguished group of academics and representatives from various Iraqi universities. The college was represented in this significant scientific and professional gathering by: - Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jawad Kadhim Al-Janabi (Secretary of the Syndicate Council in Babylon) - Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassanein Yaareb Harbi - Asst. Prof. Dr. Alaa Shouqi Jaber - Asst. Prof. Dr. Noor Fadel Hussein - Lect. Doaa Ayed - Lect. Karar Omran Redha - Mr. Ali Hussein Mahdi - Asst. Programmer Yasser Saad Al-Khazraji - Asst. Engineer Intithar Fadel Ubaid - Asst. Programmer Sarah Haidar Hashem The ceremony was graced by the attendance of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and the representative of the Prime Minister, Dr. Ali Razouqi, alongside several university presidents, deans, and distinguished academic figures from across the country. The event featured official speeches that praised the vital role of Iraqi academics in advancing society. The achievements of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate over the past years were highlighted, in addition to addressing the challenges and future aspirations. The celebration concluded with the awarding of letters of appreciation from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research to all participating academics, in recognition of their significant contributions to the advancement of higher education and service to the community. The participation of the College of Information Technology in this event reflects its commitment to active engagement in national and professional activities, and its dedication to representing the college and the university in prestigious academic and syndicate forums.
