Scientific Excellence at Duhok Conference: Faculty Member from the Information Networks Department Wins Best International Research Award for 2025 Duhaa Fadill Abbas Professor Dr. Saad Talib Al-Jubouri, a faculty member in the Department of Information Networks at the College of Information Technology, participated in the proceedings of the 2025 International Conference on Computer Science and Software Engineering, hosted by the University of Duhok in the Kurdistan Region. Dr. Al-Jubouri delivered two peer-reviewed research papers during the conference sessions, both of which were met with considerable acclaim from fellow researchers and attendees. One of the papers, presented in collaboration with researcher Zahraa Saad, was awarded Best Paper of the Conference. The study explored the role of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) in enhancing wireless communication performance, particularly in Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) environments. The research emphasized the integration of RIS technology into 6G networks and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication systems, employing machine learning algorithms to overcome computational challenges and deliver improved speed and reliability. The second paper, conducted in collaboration with researcher Israa Hussein, proposed a novel approach to clustering Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) using a P-median model grounded in mathematical modeling and computational simulation. The study aimed to minimize energy consumption by reducing distances between sensor nodes and their cluster heads, while optimizing the number of clusters and efficiently distributing nodes. Simulation results demonstrated a 99% clustering success rate, underscoring the precision and effectiveness of the proposed model. This distinguished participation highlights the significance of supporting emerging researchers in their scientific endeavors and reflects Dr. Al-Jubouri’s continued commitment to advancing research quality and fostering academic collaboration.
