It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Intellectual Symposium at the College of Information Technology Commemorates Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) and Highlights His Scholarly Legacy Duhaa Fadill Abbas The Software Department at the College of Information Technology organized a cultural symposium today to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of the sixth Imam of Ahlulbayt, Imam Ja far Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him). The event, held in collaboration with the Sabeel Al-Istiqaama Foundation, was marked by a solemn atmosphere reflecting deep reverence for the Imam’s intellectual and spiritual stature. Titled “Milestones in the Life of Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him),” the symposium featured a keynote lecture delivered by His Eminence Sheikh Nizar Al-Atwani. The presentation shed light on significant chapters of the Imam’s life, underscoring his pioneering role in laying the foundations of Islamic knowledge and his profound impact on the intellectual renaissance of the Islamic world. The Imam’s scholarly school attracted renowned scholars and thinkers from various Islamic traditions. The event was attended by Dr. Suraa Zaki Al-Rasheed, Head of the Software Department, along with a distinguished group of faculty members and students from different academic levels. Their presence reflected the academic community’s commitment to drawing inspiration from the noble values embodied by Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him), while promoting cultural and religious awareness among students and reinforcing Islamic identity within academic forums.
