It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

College of Information Technology Welcomes MP Haider Salam to Discuss Academic Advancement Initiatives Duhaa Fadill Abbas Professor Dr. Wesam Sameer Bhaya, Dean of the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon, received Member of Parliament Haider Salam during his official visit to the college earlier today, in the presence of Dr. Mushtaq Al-Khafaji, President of the Academics Syndicate. The meeting focused on exploring avenues to support the academic journey, reviewing the college’s most prominent scientific and research achievements, and discussing future needs to enhance the university’s educational environment. Dean Baheiha emphasized the college’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with legislative bodies to serve the goals of higher education and foster youth development. For his part, MP Haider Salam commended the college’s efforts in scientific research and community service, expressing his full support for initiatives and programs that contribute to elevating the academic landscape. The visit concluded with a field tour of the college’s laboratories and scientific facilities to observe firsthand the infrastructure and services provided to students.
