Researchers Publish a Scientific Study on Enhancing Cluster Head Selection in SAGIN Using Hybrid Intelligent Techniques Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of the College of Information Technology’s ongoing commitment to promoting high-quality scientific research, Ph.D. student and lecturer Ms. Iman Dakhel Idan from the Department of Information Networks, in collaboration with Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Kadhim Mohammed from the University of Babylon – College of Science for Women and Al-Mustaqbal University – Department of Cybersecurity, has published a research paper entitled: "A Hybrid Approach to Cluster Head Selection in Space?Air?Ground Integrated Networks: Leveraging SMC and OOA for Optimal Performance." The study was published in The Journal of Supercomputing, a globally recognized Q1-ranked journal specializing in high-performance computing and intelligent systems. The research addresses the challenge of cluster head selection within Space–Air–Ground Integrated Networks (SAGIN), proposing a novel hybrid method called EECHOOA (Energy-Efficient Cluster Head Optimal OOA Algorithm). This approach integrates the Opportunistic Optimization Algorithm (OOA) with clustering mechanisms as a foundational layer to group Internet of Things (IoT) nodes into energy-aware clusters, aiming to minimize power consumption and enhance communication efficiency. What distinguishes the proposed method is its high adaptability to dynamic network conditions, achieved through a flexible and scalable mechanism for dynamic cluster head selection and intelligent clustering. This scientific contribution underscores the significance of integrating artificial intelligence algorithms with advanced clustering techniques in the architecture of SAGIN, thereby boosting the efficiency and sustainability of IoT networks across various contemporary applications. The publication of this research reflects the strong academic standing of the College of Information Technology s faculty and reaffirms its dedication to innovation and excellence in the technological and scientific domains.
