It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Researchers Publish a Scientific Study on the Comprehensive Impact of Non-Terrestrial Networks on 5G NR Random Access Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of the ongoing efforts of the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon to advance high-quality scientific research and contribute meaningfully to the development of modern communication technologies, Lecturer Ali Zuhair Kaneesh from the Cybersecurity Department, in collaboration with a distinguished group of researchers from various institutions, has published a peer-reviewed research paper. The co-authors include: - Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Kadhim Mohammed – University of Babylon / College of Science for Women, and Al-Mustaqbal University / Cybersecurity Department - Dr. Moammar Nafea – Ministry of Communications - Lecturer Naba Ali Khalil – Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University The paper is entitled: "A Comprehensive Analysis of Non-Terrestrial Networks Impact on 5G NR Random Access" This research was published in the internationally renowned Telecommunication Systems journal, ranked in Q2 of the Scopus and Clarivate indexing systems, and issued by Springer. The journal focuses on advanced topics in telecommunications engineering, wireless systems, smart networks, information security, and network performance analysis. The study presents a thorough investigation into the impact of Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs) on the Random Access (RA) procedure within 5G New Radio (NR) systems. It examines the key technical challenges posed by integrating satellite and aerial layers into terrestrial infrastructure and proposes innovative solutions aimed at enhancing system efficiency, reducing latency, and improving access reliability. This research marks a significant contribution to the field of wireless communications and reflects the scientific progress and collaborative spirit of the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon, in partnership with academic and governmental institutions committed to advancing the telecommunications landscape. ??
