Women’s Affairs Unit and Software Department at the College of Information Technology Organize Workshop on Women’s Mental Health Duhaa Fadill Abbas Within the framework of the Participation and Reform Initiative, the Women’s Affairs Unit, in collaboration with the Software Department at the College of Information Technology, organized a distinguished workshop titled “Women’s Mental Health.” The workshop was delivered by Dr. Roua Mohammed and Ms. Intidhar Fadel, as part of the Women’s Empowerment Unit’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the critical importance of mental health. The workshop emphasized the pivotal role of mental health as a foundation for family stability and happiness. It highlighted the direct impact of mental well-being on the quality of interpersonal relationships within the family and the family members’ ability to confront everyday challenges effectively. The speakers underscored that supporting mental health within the family requires creating a safe and emotionally nurturing environment, where every member feels valued, understood, and respected. They also stressed the importance of active listening, providing timely support during crises, and fostering open and honest communication among family members. Moreover, the workshop highlighted the necessity of sharing responsibilities equitably among all family members, identifying this as a fundamental factor in maintaining mental health and alleviating stress—particularly on the mother, who often bears the greatest burden. Fair distribution of tasks promotes a spirit of cooperation and belonging and cultivates a sense of responsibility and independence among children. The session concluded by affirming that families that support the mental health of their members and involve them in shared responsibilities tend to be stronger, more cohesive, and better equipped to overcome difficulties with resilience and awareness.
