It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

The Graduate Studies Division at the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon Continues to Support Postgraduate Applicants for the Academic Year 2025-2026 Duhaa Fadill Abbas In line with the directives of the Dean of the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon, Professor Dr. Ahmed Khalfa Obaid, aimed at fostering a flexible and transparent academic environment that promotes the development of research skills and supports academic pathways in the fields of information technology—while aligning with the requirements of sustainable development and the labor market—the Graduate Studies Division at the College of Information Technology, University of Babylon, continues its operational and administrative activities. This includes receiving and reviewing applications for postgraduate programs (doctoral and master s degrees) for the academic year 2025-2026, since the commencement of the official application period as stipulated by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Since the opening of the application window, the Division has been providing technical and advisory support to students aspiring to pursue postgraduate studies, facilitating the electronic application procedures via the designated platform, and responding to applicants inquiries. Additionally, it has been actively verifying initial documents to ensure compliance with the established regulations and instructions. The Graduate Studies Division affirms its ongoing commitment to receive applications, address exceptional cases, and consider objections, inviting all prospective applicants to visit the Division to stay informed of the latest updates or to complete any missing documentation within the specified timeline.
