As part of its ongoing efforts to modernize digital infrastructure and implement contemporary administrative systems, the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon has embarked on practical steps to update its student database electronically. This is being accomplished through the activation of the Student Information System (SIS), which is considered one of the most pivotal initiatives in the digital transformation of higher education.

The project was carried out under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Wesam Sameer Bhaya, with close academic oversight from the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Iman Saleh Sakban. The initiative was implemented in coordination with the Registration Division and all academic departments, reflecting the college administration’s commitment to establishing a precise and sustainable information management system.

The operational steps included launching dedicated electronic forms to collect student data, which were disseminated across all academic levels. Students were tasked with filling out these forms themselves, in alignment with the college s aim to promote a culture of self-responsibility and ensure the accuracy of information.

Subsequently, specialized committees—comprising representatives from the Registration Division, Student Affairs, and academic departments—undertook comprehensive verification processes. These involved meticulous cross-referencing of submitted data with official records to ensure complete consistency and accurate updating.

The verification stages adhered to rigorous criteria, including admission year, type of admission, academic status, and other essential indicators. This process facilitated the development of an updated database that supports informed academic and administrative decision-making.

Dean Dr. Bhaya commended the efforts of the staff within the Registration and Student Affairs divisions, as well as the constructive cooperation of academic departments. He emphasized that this achievement lays the groundwork for future projects aimed at enhancing university services and improving the efficiency of administrative systems.

This milestone represents a significant advancement in the college’s vision of fostering administrative innovation and keeping pace with digital transformations in education—contributing to the creation of a more advanced and streamlined academic environment.
