It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

The Women s Affairs Unit at the College of Information Technology Launches Awareness Campaign to Promote Women s Participation in Elections Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of its ongoing efforts to raise electoral awareness and strengthen the role of women in the democratic process, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Information Technology – University of Babylon, launched an awareness campaign aimed at encouraging active female participation in the upcoming elections. The campaign was carried out under the direct supervision of Dr. Noor Fadel Hussein, Head of the Women s Affairs Unit, and with the active involvement of unit liaisons, Engineer Intidhar Fadel Ubaid and Engineer Duhaa Fadel Abbas. Activities included the distribution of educational posters to female staff members across the college, the display of awareness materials on campus screens, and the placement of posters in key locations throughout the college. This initiative seeks to promote a culture of political engagement among women, highlighting the importance of their voice in shaping national policies and contributing to future development. The campaign received strong support and positive feedback within the college community. Professor Dr. Wesam Sameer Bhaya, Dean of the College, praised the unit’s efforts and reaffirmed the full support of the college administration for such meaningful initiatives that focus on empowering women and broadening their societal role. This campaign is part of a broader series of awareness activities conducted by the Women’s Affairs Unit, in alignment with the University of Babylon’s strategic vision to strengthen community empowerment and encourage inclusive participation in national progress.
