In line with efforts to advance scientific research and develop intelligent solutions in the fields of fog computing and the Internet of Things (IoT), Assistant Lecturer Abrar Saad Al-Mawla from the Software Department – College of Information Technology, University of Babylon – has published a distinguished scientific study in the international journal Engineering, Technology & Applied Science Research, indexed in the second quartile (Q2) of Clarivate databases, with an impact factor of 1.5.

The study is entitled: An Attention-Based LSTM-ELECTRE Model for Intelligent and Proactive Load Balancing in Real-Time Fog Computing Environments
It addresses one of the most significant challenges in fog computing environments: load balancing among nodes, particularly for dynamic IoT applications that demand real-time responsiveness. The researcher proposed a hybrid model that combines the predictive capabilities of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural networks with an attention mechanism for accurate future load forecasting, alongside the integration of the ELECTRE multi-criteria decision-making algorithm to optimally distribute tasks across nodes.

This research provides a promising framework for building more stable and reliable fog computing environments to support real-time IoT applications. It also reflects the commitment of the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon to advancing scientific research and expanding academic collaboration in cutting-edge technology domains.
