As part of the College of Information Technology – University of Babylon’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence in scientific research and foster academic collaboration with Iraqi universities, Professor Faiz Ali Rashid, a faculty member in the Department of Cybersecurity, chaired the Master’s thesis defense of student Mahdi Hamza Salem at the College of Computer Science, University of Kufa.

The thesis, titled “A Proposed Development of NTRU Cryptographic System”, focused on advancing the NTRU cryptographic system in the post-quantum cryptography domain, combining high efficiency with resistance against advanced quantum attacks. The study introduced innovative models based on matrix and algebraic structures to enhance the system’s strength and efficiency, incorporating four main approaches, including polynomial matrices, the Modular Polynomial NTRU (MaPNTRU) scheme, and an integrated system utilizing self-invertible matrices.

The results demonstrated that the proposed models maintain the robustness and security of NTRU while providing greater flexibility for practical deployment in large-scale environments, thereby enhancing its applicability for securing data and digital images in the post-quantum era.

This participation underscores the leading role of the College of Information Technology’s faculty in pushing the boundaries of scientific research in cybersecurity and cryptography, highlighting the college’s capabilities in academic innovation and research collaboration with Iraqi universities.
