Software Department at the College of Information Technology Discusses a Detailed PhD Seminar Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of its ongoing academic activities, the Software Department at the College of Information Technology, University of Babylon, hosted a detailed seminar for PhD candidate Safaa Tahseen Mohammed, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Al-Harith Abdul Kareem Abdullah. The candidate presented an in-depth overview of her dissertation entitled “Security Drone Networks Using Post-Quantum Cryptography and Machine Learning.” In her presentation, the researcher highlighted the rapid advancements in quantum computing, which provide unprecedented computational power and the ability to solve complex problems across diverse domains. While this progress holds transformative potential, it also poses significant security risks, necessitating robust cryptographic solutions resilient to quantum-based attacks. The seminar focused on the CRYSTALS-Dilithium algorithm, one of the leading post-quantum cryptographic schemes that offers strong resistance against quantum cryptanalysis. The candidate explained that deploying Dilithium in resource-constrained environments remains a major challenge, with critical issues such as minimizing energy consumption, ensuring scalability, and addressing hardware limitations. Her dissertation proposes an innovative technique aimed at optimizing the performance of CRYSTALS-Dilithium while improving the efficiency of private key memory usage. This approach is expected to enhance the reliability of secure drone networks, paving the way for practical applications that combine post-quantum cryptography with machine learning. The seminar was attended by the department’s academic committee, whose members enriched the discussion with constructive feedback and scientific recommendations, further contributing to the refinement of the research and the assurance of its originality and quality.
