As part of its commitment to fostering a sustainable campus environment and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the academic setting, the College of Information Technology continues its ongoing efforts to develop a distinctive afforestation project. This initiative focuses on cultivating the college’s corridors and open spaces with diverse trees and plants, with the ultimate aim of establishing a miniature forest within the campus.

The project is designed to enrich the college with a healthier ecological atmosphere, providing shade that creates a comfortable study environment for students and faculty members. In addition, it plays a vital role in improving air quality, reducing ambient temperatures in the corridors, and aligning with the university’s broader sustainability strategies.

In recent months, various species of seasonal and evergreen trees and plants have been planted under the close supervision of Professor Dr. Wesam Sameer Bhaya, Dean of the College, along with the staff of the Administrative Affairs Division. To ensure the long-term success of this initiative, modern irrigation systems have been installed, while stone and wooden seating areas have been added to create designated spaces for rest and reading amidst a natural setting.

Dean Bhaya emphasized that the project’s objectives extend beyond aesthetic value, aspiring also to cultivate an environmental culture among students by encouraging their active participation in maintaining these green spaces. This initiative ultimately seeks to strengthen students’ sense of belonging and responsibility toward both the university and the natural environment.
