It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Comprehensive Examination for Doctoral Students Conducted at the College of Information Technology Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of its academic strategy to advance scientific research and strengthen the educational journey of its postgraduate students, the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon conducted the comprehensive examination for doctoral candidates. This examination represents a pivotal milestone in the academic path of Ph.D. students, aiming to assess their mastery of specialized scientific and research competencies prior to advancing to the dissertation stage. The exam was administered under the supervision of specialized academic committees from the college’s faculty members and with the direct oversight of the college’s administration. Through this step, the College reaffirms its commitment to upholding rigorous academic standards and fostering an intellectually stimulating environment that contributes to graduating researchers capable of making significant contributions in the fields of modern technology and addressing the evolving needs of the labor market.
