College of Information Technology Organizes a Seminar on University Professional Conduct Regulations Duhaa Fadill Abbas The Department of Information Networks at the College of Information Technology – University of Babylon organized a scientific seminar entitled “University Professional Conduct Regulations and Challenges” in collaboration with the College’s Legal Division and other academic departments. The seminar featured contributions from Dr. Khawla Kazem Mohammed Al-Mamouri (Department of Software), Lecturer Ali Hussein Mahdi Aziz Al-Asadi (Department of Information Networks), and Lecturer Hassan Hadi Abdul Al-Mamouri (Department of Cybersecurity). The discussions addressed the framework of professional conduct within universities and the challenges associated with its implementation, emphasizing that universities serve as a cornerstone in shaping society and advancing its development by preparing individuals and fostering their academic, behavioral, and social growth. The seminar further highlighted that the professional conduct of all university affiliates—both faculty and staff—represents a central pillar in achieving the institution’s scientific and academic mission. Moreover, the seminar underscored the importance of adhering to sound university conduct as a fundamental principle within the higher education environment, while also reviewing key legal frameworks governing academic work and the challenges they face amid contemporary developments. The event concluded with several recommendations, most notably: updating the professional conduct guide to align with current transformations; introducing curricular content on professional ethics and violations of institutional regulations; activating university psychological counseling committees; enhancing examination systems; adopting principles of good governance; and establishing a dedicated electronic portal for submitting complaints.
