It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

College of Information Technology Attains “Excellent” Rating in the Evaluation of Academic and Scientific Performance Duhaa Fadill Abbas The Dean of the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon has received a formal letter of appreciation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Directorate of Supervision and Scientific Evaluation, in recognition of his distinguished efforts in advancing the academic and scientific standards of the College. This acknowledgment came following the College’s achievement of an *“Excellent”* rating, granted by the ministerial committees tasked with assessing the academic and scientific environment of public universities for the 2024–2025 academic year. The result reflects the College’s strong commitment to implementing rigorous quality assurance measures and adhering to well-established academic programs. The letter of appreciation, signed by the Head of the Directorate of Supervision and Scientific Evaluation, emphasized that this accomplishment marks a significant milestone in strengthening the College’s position among its peers. It further conveyed best wishes to the Dean, faculty, and staff for continued progress and success in serving the higher education sector of Iraq.
