The College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon has celebrated a new academic milestone through the participation of Professor Emeritus Sattar Badr Sadkhan, a faculty member from the Department of Information Networks, in the 10th International Engineering Conference (IEC2024). The conference was hosted by Tishk International University in collaboration with Erbil Polytechnic University, and held in Erbil from October 23–24, 2024, under the theme “Innovative Engineering Solutions for Sustainable Development”, with technical sponsorship from IEEE and the IEEE Iraq Section.

Recognized as one of the most prominent international scientific events, the conference brought together researchers and academics from around the world to exchange knowledge and discuss the latest advances in engineering fields. Representing the College of Information Technology, Professor Sadkhan made a distinguished contribution by presenting three high-quality research papers, all of which were published in the globally recognized IEEE Xplore Digital Library, thereby granting the college wider academic recognition and strengthening its presence on international research platforms.

The presented papers addressed advanced and vital research topics. The first paper, entitled “Cryptanalysis of RSA Based on Parallel Factorization Method,” introduced an advanced mathematical approach to accelerate the decryption of RSA cryptosystems, paving new pathways in the field of information security. The second paper, “Enhance Channel Selection in Cognitive Radio Networks based on Fuzzy Logic,” examined the enhancement of channel selection in smart wireless networks through the use of artificial intelligence techniques, aiming to overcome the challenges of spectrum congestion. The third paper, “Cognitive Warfare – Status, Challenges and Future Trends,” explored the emerging and sensitive domain of cognitive warfare, shedding light on its dimensions, future challenges, and implications for cybersecurity.

Professor Sadkhan emphasized that such participation represents a valuable opportunity to enhance the international presence of the College of Information Technology, highlight the competencies of its researchers, and elevate the standards of scientific research at the University of Babylon. Moreover, it opens new avenues for collaboration with advanced research centers worldwide.

Distinguished contributions of this nature reaffirm the role of the College of Information Technology – University of Babylon as one of the pioneering academic institutions in Iraq, capable of addressing contemporary scientific challenges and supporting the path toward sustainable development through rigorous and innovative engineering research.
