Students from Al-Najaf Technical Institute on a Scientific Visit to the College of Information Technology, University of Babylon

The College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon welcomed a student delegation from the second stage of the Department of Computer Networks and Software Technologies at Al-Najaf Technical Institute. The visit aimed to strengthen academic cooperation, exchange expertise, and provide students with firsthand exposure to the college’s technological infrastructure and training programs. The delegation was accompanied by Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassoon Salman Naama, Asst. Prof. Dr. Salman Abdul Kazem, Lecturer Falah Hassan Naama, Asst. Prof. Dr. Issam Haidar Majid, and Assistant Lecturer Safaa Mohsen Kareem. They were received by Dr. George Iskandar Hussein, Ms. Nibras Abdul Redha Hamid, and Ms. Huda Sameer Sahib, faculty members of the Information Networks Department.
The visit began with a meeting with the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Wesam Sameer Bhaya, and the Head of the Information Networks Department, Prof. Dr. Al-Harith Abdul Kareem Abdullah, who welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of academic partnerships between educational institutions to foster integrated expertise and develop students’ skills in line with labor market requirements.
The delegation then embarked on a guided tour of the college’s facilities, beginning with the Cisco Laboratory, where students were introduced to the rack (Rack) structure, its benefits, associated servers, and operational systems, alongside detailed explanations on managing these technologies within academic settings. Ms. Nibras Abdul Redha delivered a scientific presentation on the Internet of Things (IoT), highlighting modern applications in the field and potential projects students could undertake, accompanied by a demonstration of a miniature IoT project developed by the Information Networks Department.
The visit also included attendance of a practical lecture in optical networking, presented by a specialist, who demonstrated hands-on network setup and modern networking procedures, providing students with direct exposure to practical applications of theoretical concepts. The delegation subsequently toured the college’s central server room, where Dr. George Iskandar provided a detailed overview of its components, internal infrastructure, and mechanisms for delivering digital services supporting students and staff.
The visit concluded with participation in the Hackathon competition organized by the college, which showcased innovative technological solutions developed by participating students. This scientific visit reflects the college’s commitment to expanding academic collaboration with other educational institutions and providing an advanced learning environment that enhances students’ skills and bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
