Software Department Explores the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Future of the Media Labor Market in Collaboration with the Department of Media

As part of its strategic vision to keep pace with digital transformation and enhance awareness of future skills, the Software Department at the College of Information Technology, University of Babylon, in collaboration with the Department of Media and Government Communication, organized a specialized workshop delivered by Dr. Hussein Ali Ismail from the College of Information Technology and Asst. Lecturer Hussein Mohsen Al-Akeeli from the Department of Media.

The workshop, titled “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Workforce in Media Institutions: A Reading of Upcoming Challenges in the Labor Market,” was held under the patronage of the President of the University of Babylon, Prof. Dr. Ameen Ajeel Al-Yasiri, and attended by the Head of the Software Department, a number of faculty members, and students from both Software and Media disciplines.

Dr. Hussein Ali Ismail focused his lecture on outlining key applications of artificial intelligence in analyzing big data, automating media-related tasks, and enhancing production tools, emphasizing that AI technologies have become integral to modern professional environments. He further noted that these advancements present both significant opportunities and pressing challenges that require continuous upskilling of media professionals.

The workshop was moderated by Asst. Lecturer Hussein Mohsen Al-Akeeli, who steered the discussion toward the future of traditional media jobs and the importance of integrating digital transformation and AI-related competencies within academic curricula to meet evolving labor market demands.

The event witnessed active engagement from attendees who explored practical approaches to leveraging artificial intelligence in developing media content and enhancing graduates’ readiness to succeed in a rapidly evolving, technology-driven job market.
