The College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon, represented by its Dean, Professor Dr. Wesam Sameer Bhaya, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Kareem, Undergraduate Studies Rapporteur in the Cybersecurity Department, and Lect. Karrar Imran Redha from the same department, welcomed a group of students from Yemen and Syria upon their arrival at Baghdad International Airport. This reception comes as part of the national “Study in Iraq” initiative, which aims to strengthen academic and cultural collaboration between Iraq and countries across the region and beyond.

The newly admitted students will join the Cybersecurity Department for the 2024–2025 academic year. They will be accommodated in the university’s dedicated international student housing, which provides comprehensive services designed to ensure their comfort, well-being, and seamless integration into campus life.

The College Council expressed its warm welcome to the incoming students, affirming its commitment to offering continuous academic, cultural, and advisory support. This initiative reflects the college’s broader efforts to elevate the standing of Iraqi universities as attractive destinations for international students, grounded in high-quality academic programs and a vibrant, diverse educational environment.

It is noteworthy that the “Study in Iraq” initiative is part of a long-term strategic plan led by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to attract foreign students to Iraqi universities. The initiative contributes to enhancing international understanding, strengthening cross-cultural exchange, and fostering the sharing of academic expertise across borders.
