As part of the College of Information Technology’s efforts to strengthen scientific and professional partnerships with state institutions, a delegation from the Software Department carried out a scientific visit to the Cybersecurity Directorate at the Iraqi Ministry of Interior.

During the visit, the delegation reviewed the organizational structure of the directorate and learned about the nature of its work and the responsibilities it undertakes in protecting digital infrastructure, in addition to its pivotal role in promoting the concept of cybersecurity within governmental institutions and enhancing security awareness among employees.

As part of the visit program, the delegation met with the Director of the Directorate, Brigadier General Dr. Hassan Hadi Latheeth, who provided a detailed explanation of the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to strengthen cybersecurity capabilities, the operational mechanisms adopted to counter digital threats, and the measures taken to safeguard sensitive systems within state institutions.

The two sides also discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation, including the possibility of establishing a formal collaboration agreement encompassing the development of cybersecurity-related academic curricula, the exchange of training expertise, the organization of specialized workshops, and the implementation of programs aimed at promoting security awareness among students and government personnel.

The visit concluded with an affirmation of the importance of maintaining continuous communication between both parties to support the development of students’ competencies and contribute to national efforts aimed at strengthening cybersecurity in Iraq.
