It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

College of Information Technology Explores Prospects for Cooperation with the Scientific Engineers Club to Enhance Research and Technological Development Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of its efforts to strengthen academic and technological partnerships, and in continuation of its collaborative approach with national institutions, the College of Information Technology welcomed a delegation from the Scientific Engineers Club last Thursday at the college’s main building, with the attendance of several faculty members and specialists. The college expressed its appreciation for the visiting delegation, affirming its readiness to engage in joint work across technological and technical fields in ways that support scientific projects and enhance the research environment for students. The meeting addressed several key topics, most notably the establishment of future joint research centers, collaboration in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and related fields, as well as the provision of equipment and laboratories within the club’s facilities to support faculty and students in scientific research. Discussions also covered the organization of workshops dedicated to research and development. Additional points included supporting students’ graduation projects, offering training and employment opportunities for graduates, sponsoring the college’s annual scientific conference, adopting the college’s scientific competitions and expanding them nationwide, and collaborating on long-term specialized programs and courses. During the visit, the delegation toured the scientific laboratories and server rooms, receiving an overview of students’ projects and future development plans. The discussions also explored opportunities for international cooperation in the field of technology transfer. This meeting aligns with the College of Information Technology’s vision of expanding engagement with scientific and research institutions, and building strategic partnerships that contribute to advancing knowledge, supporting students, and empowering them in modern technological fields.
