It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

College of Information Technology Hosts Workshop on Modern Application Architecture in Collaboration with Zain Iraq Duhaa Fadill Abbas In its continuous effort to enhance the practical skills of its students and connect them with real-world industry experience, the College of Information Technology at the University of Babylon, in collaboration with Zain Iraq, organized a specialized workshop titled Modern Application Architecture. The event was attended by members of the college council, faculty staff, and students, reflecting the college’s commitment to enabling students to understand how modern applications operate and to acquire practical skills that prepare them for seamless integration into professional technical environments. The workshop was delivered by Engineer Ali Al-Janabi, Senior Software Engineer at Zain Iraq, who shared his professional experience and provided students with a clear perspective on the operational environment of major technology companies. During the workshop, participants explored the process of building modern applications used in daily life, including the essential steps for developing user interfaces and backend systems. The session also covered effective and secure methods for managing and storing data, strategies for deploying and maintaining applications online, and highlighted the best engineering practices employed by professionals in leading companies, along with an overview of the future of application engineering and emerging opportunities in the field. The presenter introduced himself as a graduate of the College of Information Technology, giving students a tangible example of how academic learning translates into professional practice and illustrating the transition from university education to working in high-level technical environments. The workshop concluded with recognition from the College Dean, who presented Engineer Al-Janabi with a certificate of appreciation for his contribution to enriching students’ technical knowledge. The event ended with a commemorative photograph with the college council and participating students, emphasizing the college’s dedication to promoting practical learning and connecting students with real-world professional experience.
