Workshop on the Hidden Layer in Cybersecurity: Threats to Generative AI, Psychological Manipulation, and the Human Firewall

The Departments of Information Networks and Cybersecurity at the College of Information Technology jointly organized a workshop titled “The Hidden Layer in Cybersecurity: How It Threatens Generative AI and Psychological Manipulation, and the Role of the Human Firewall.” The session was presented by Asst. Lecturers Hiba Rashid Atiya and Zahraa Salman.

The workshop explored the concept of the hidden layer in cybersecurity and its potential to compromise generative AI systems, while also examining its implications in psychological manipulation and social engineering attacks. Participants were introduced to strategies for strengthening both human and technical defenses, along with modern tools and techniques for detecting and mitigating complex cyber threats.

Attendees actively engaged in discussions on real-world scenarios involving generative AI applications and psychological manipulation tactics, as well as strategies for establishing an effective human and technological firewall.

This initiative reflects the College of Information Technology’s commitment to enhancing cybersecurity awareness among students and faculty, and to developing the skills necessary to confront emerging challenges in the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity.
