Information Technology Students Continue to Excel in the University of Babylon Central Chess Championship

As part of the College of Information Technology’s support for its students’ talents, and its continuous efforts to enhance their presence in various university activities, the college’s students achieved a remarkable performance in the Chess Championship organized by the Student Activities Unit at the University of Babylon. The event witnessed wide participation from different university faculties and was hosted by the College of Materials Engineering.

The students of the college excelled in both categories of the tournament. In the male category, Hussein Hassan Ali achieved joint second place and third place by tie-break, demonstrating the ability of the college’s students to compete strongly in intellectually demanding activities that require precision, strategy, and tactical intelligence.
In the female category, Obaida Saif Abd from the Department of Information Networks secured third place after delivering a strong performance that reflected her high skill level and exceptional focus.

The championship concluded with commemorative photos taken of the winning students as they held their trophies and medals, accompanied by their department heads, the Dean of the College of Information Technology, and the college’s Student Activities Officer. The moment reflected the college’s ongoing commitment to supporting and encouraging its students to excel in various university activities.

This achievement represents a new milestone affirming the ability of the College of Information Technology’s students to make a strong impression in academic, cultural, and athletic events, further solidifying the college’s status as an environment that nurtures talent, creativity, and excellence.
