An Awareness Workshop on Security Operations Centers (SOC) Held at the College of Information Technology in Cooperation with Al-Qassa Company

The ITC Team at the College of Information Technology, in cooperation with Al-Qassa Electronic Payment Services Company, organized an awareness workshop in the field of information security entitled “Security Operation Center (SOC) in Depth.” The workshop was delivered by Mr. Haider Nasser, a representative of Al-Qassa Company and a graduate of the Cybersecurity Department at the college.
The workshop provided an in-depth academic and practical overview of Security Operations Centers (SOC), highlighting their organizational structure, core functions, and operational mechanisms in monitoring, analyzing, and responding to cybersecurity incidents. It also addressed the key tools and technologies employed in SOC environments, the role of cybersecurity teams in protecting institutional systems and networks, and the essential skills and career pathways required for working in this critical field, in line with labor market demands.
The session was conducted in a highly interactive academic atmosphere, featuring open discussions and a question-and-answer segment that allowed students to engage directly with the presenter. This interaction significantly enriched the workshop content and enhanced students’ practical understanding and technical awareness of information security concepts.
The workshop concluded with a speech by the Dean of the College of Information Technology, who expressed his pride in the college’s students and their distinguished scientific capabilities, emphasizing the importance of such activities in empowering students to forge their professional paths after graduation and to actively contribute to society and the evolving digital landscape.
In the same context, the ITC Team, in collaboration with Al-Qassa Electronic Payment Services Company, established a booth within the college premises aimed at issuing electronic payment cards free of charge for students, as part of supporting digital transformation and facilitating electronic financial transactions within the academic environment.
The event was held in the presence of members of the College Council, faculty members, and a large number of students, reflecting the college’s commitment to enhancing digital culture and strengthening effective partnerships with reputable institutions. It is noteworthy that Al-Qassa Company is considered one of the leading companies in the field of electronic payment in Iraq, cooperating with ministries and governmental institutions, and is officially licensed by the Central Bank of Iraq.
