It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Department of Software Engineering at the College of Information Technology Discusses a Detailed Scientific Seminar for a PhD Candidate Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of its ongoing scientific activities the Department of Software Engineering at the College of Information Technology University of Babylon held a detailed scientific seminar for PhD candidate Zainab Adnan Jawad Hassan under the supervision of Dr Israa Hadi Ali within the framework of supporting scientific research and monitoring postgraduate projects. During the seminar the candidate presented a concise scientific overview of her doctoral dissertation entitled Three Dimensional Semantic Segmentation of Medical Images for Radiation Dose Distribution Prediction Using an Optimized Deep Learning Model. The presentation addressed the application of deep learning techniques in the processing of three dimensional computed tomography images with the aim of supporting radiotherapy planning particularly in cases of head and neck cancer. The researcher explained that the dissertation focuses on developing an intelligent model capable of accurately segmenting essential anatomical structures and utilizing this information to precisely predict radiation dose distribution. This approach contributes to automating the treatment planning process reducing time and effort while maintaining a high level of clinical decision efficiency. The seminar was attended by the scientific committee of the Department of Software Engineering which discussed the research themes and provided a set of scientific remarks and recommendations intended to enhance the research work and strengthen its scientific and practical value.
