The Women’s Affairs Unit hosted a specialized scientific seminar entitled “Electronic Blackmail and Digital Identity: Psychological and Social Impacts on the Family and Strategies of Confrontation,” delivered by Dr. Khawla Kazem and Dr. Iman Kazem.
The seminar, attended by a number of students and interested participants, addressed the various dimensions of rapid digital transformation and its profound impact on the structure of the individual, the family, and society. The lectures focused on analyzing the psychological effects resulting from intensive use of smart devices and social media platforms, particularly among children and adolescents, as well as the repercussions on family relationships and direct social interactions.
The seminar also discussed the concept of digital identity, the mechanisms of its formation, and the challenges it poses to personal identity and self-awareness in the contemporary era. The session concluded with a set of recommendations and so-called “strategies of confrontation,” which included practical proposals for the conscious and safe use of technology, alongside highlighting the role of the family and educational institutions in raising awareness among younger generations and strengthening their capacities to face potential digital challenges.
This seminar stemmed from the importance of understanding the changes accompanying the technological revolution and exploring ways to employ technology positively, while mitigating its negative effects on mental health and the social fabric.
