It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Seminar on Climate Change and Technological Solutions to Address It within the Second Sustainability Forum at the College of Information Technology Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of the activities of the Second Sustainability Forum organized by the Information Networks Department at the College of Information Technology in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit a specialized scientific seminar entitled Climate Change and Technological Solutions to Address It was held and delivered by Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Salman and Ms Zahraa Saad within the framework of supporting the Sustainable Development Goals particularly the Climate goal The seminar aimed to enhance environmental and technological awareness among participants regarding the challenges posed by climate change while highlighting the role of modern technologies in mitigating its negative impacts and supporting global efforts toward achieving environmental sustainability The seminar addressed several key topics including the concept of climate change its causes and its effects on the environment and society In addition it reviewed contemporary technological solutions such as smart technologies renewable energy systems and environmental monitoring platforms and their role in climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies This seminar forms part of a series of scientific and awareness activities organized by the Information Networks Department reflecting the College of Information Technology’s commitment to supporting sustainable development pathways and strengthening climate awareness and scientific research in environmental and technological fields
