It was established in 2009-2010 under the name of the College of Computer Technology, then its name was changed to the College of Information Technology in 2012, as a result of the development of scientific curricula. It is one of the advanced colleges in the university in terms of infrastructure and laboratories. The college grants a bachelor's degree (computer science) according to the departments mentioned above. The college follows the course system. Postgraduate studies (Master - PhD) in the software department.

Seminar on Artificial Intelligence as a Strategic Tool to Enhance Environmental Sustainability and Reduce Emissions within the Second Sustainability Forum at the College of Information Technology Duhaa Fadill Abbas As part of the activities of the Second Sustainability Forum organized by the Information Networks Department at the College of Information Technology in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit a specialized scientific seminar entitled Artificial Intelligence as a Strategic Tool to Enhance Environmental Sustainability and Reduce Emissions was held and delivered by Assistant Lecturer Taif Alaa Hamdi within the framework of supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly the Climate and Good Health and Well-Being goals The seminar aimed to highlight the growing role of artificial intelligence in addressing environmental challenges and improving quality of life by reducing harmful emissions and enhancing the efficiency of environmental resource management, thereby positively impacting public health and environmental sustainability The seminar addressed several key topics including the use of artificial intelligence techniques in monitoring environmental changes, analyzing climate data, and predicting environmental risks It also reviewed AI applications for emission reduction, improving environmental and health systems, and their role in supporting sustainable environmental policies at both local and global levels This seminar forms part of a series of scientific and awareness activities organized by the Information Networks Department, reflecting the College of Information Technology’s commitment to supporting sustainable development, raising environmental and health awareness, and advancing scientific research in contemporary technological fields
