Within the framework of the Iraqi National Security Strategy Iraq First (2025–2030) Assistant Lecturer Ali Hussein Mahdi delivered a scientific seminar entitled Building a Strong and Diversified Economy to Achieve Sustainable Development attended by a number of faculty members and students of the college

The seminar addressed the concept that building a strong and diversified economy constitutes one of the fundamental pillars for enhancing comprehensive stability and achieving sustainable development The speaker explained that national security is not confined to military and security dimensions alone but extends to include economic security as a decisive factor in supporting national sovereignty and reducing vulnerability to internal and external crises

The seminar highlighted that diversifying the Iraqi economy is a necessary response to the challenges arising from excessive reliance on oil and the resulting volatility in public revenues and direct impacts on development and public services In this context the national strategy emphasizes activating key sectors such as agriculture industry renewable energy tourism and private investment in addition to supporting the knowledge-based economy and developing human capital thereby contributing to the creation of sustainable employment opportunities and the promotion of social justice

Furthermore the seminar emphasized that building a diversified economy enhances social cohesion and reduces poverty and unemployment rates which positively reflects on internal security and political stability Accordingly achieving sustainable development in Iraq within the framework of the National Security Strategy requires integrated economic policies that balance economic growth resource protection and the rights of future generations thereby consolidating the foundations of a strong secure and resilient state capable of addressing future challenges
